The Greenest and Cleanest Town of Negros Oriental

Valencia is a first class municipality in the southern part of Negros Oriental, located 9 kilometers west of Dumaguete City, the provincial capital. It has a land area of about 15,000 hectares, 65 percent of which is mountain terrain and 35 percent rolling plain. Its population of about 24,000 is distributed in 24 barangays.

Valencia is primarily an agricultural community. Its people rely on farming as a source of livelihood. Its main products are coconuts, corn, rice, fruits (bananas, lanzones, rambutan), beans, peanuts, rootcrops (cassava and camote), vegetables, flowers and spices.

Valencia can boast of its rustic, peaceful atmosphere. Not only are endemic and rare species of flora and fauna found in the area, but its forests and rivers provide water as well as leisure activities for the people.
