Location/Physical Characteristics of the Municipality
The Municipality of Balete is a 4th class municipality when it comes to income
classification in the Province of Aklan. It is made up ten (10) barangays from
which nine are situated in a mountainous area. Balete is located in the eastern
part of the Province of Aklan. The Municipality is bounded on the east by
Altavas, on the west by Madalag, on the northwest by Banga, on the southwest by
Libacao, on the northwest by Batan and on the south by Jamindan, Capiz (Fig.1).
It is 155 kilometers away from the regional capital, Iloilo City and is
approximately 20.4 kilometers from the provincial capital, Kalibo.
The municipality has a total land area of 11,760 hectares. The biggest in terms
of land area is barangay Guanko followed by Calizo and the smallest is the
barangay Poblacion which constitute the total land area of 7.47 hectares. (Table

Climate
Balete has a type III climate which is relatively dry from February to April and
wet for the rest of the year.
Soil
There are four (4) varied soil types found in the municipality. They are the San
Miguel Clayroam, Alimodian Clayroam, Sapian Clay and Sigcay Clay. San Miguel
clayroam is found in the barangays of Aranas and Cortes. Aalimodian clay is
found in the barangays of Feliciano, Oquendo, Guanko and Morales while Sapian
clay is found in Poblacion and the Sigcay clay is found in barangay Arcangel.
