With the aim of recognizing the exemplary performances of Community eCenters (CeCs) and CeC knowledge workers in the country, the Commission on ICT (CICT), through the Philippine CeC Project Management Office (PhilCeC PMO), has set out to commend worthy individuals manning the CeCs, and give due recognition to successful telecenters in the local scene.

15 LGUs Finish Off 5th Batch of eBPLS User’s Training

The National Computer Center-Field Operations Office recently completed the 5th batch of eBPLS User’s Training, following the first four batches in Quezon and Cebu City. The activity was held at the computer laboratory of the NCC-FOO Mindanao Office in Zamboanga City last November 24-27, 2009, headed by NCC-FOO Mindanao Group Head Cheryl C. Ortega alongside trainer and component head Madeline Arevalo, technical instructor Arlyn Alcoriza, and DAP (Development Academy of the Philippines) program officers Ellinor Santos and Jenalyn Ferrer.

The attendees consisted of 15 LGUs, both pilots and non-pilots of the eBPLS project, summing up a total of at least 50 participants. The 4-day training discussed subjects on both the technical and user’s end. The technical part of the training covered topics from the installation to the troubleshooting of the system while the user’s end dealt on the functions and operations of the system.

LGU-Alegria, Cebu’s eLGU Implementation Milestones

The municipality of Alegria first became a beneficiary of the eLGU project sometime 2002 and had since advanced in terms of its ICT capabilities.

After attending the eGovernance seminar conducted in Cebu City, the local government applied as a project beneficiary after taking cognizance of the need to put up a computerization effort, with priorities identified on its concerns relating to resource generation, administration and enhancing service capabilities.

Iloilo hosts last leg of Convergence 2009 ICT Roadshow

The last leg of the Convergence 2009 ICT Roadshow was held last November 25-26, 2009 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center in Iloilo City.

The event was organized by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) in partnership with the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) and the IIoilo Federation for Information and Technology (IFIT).

NCC joins TelOf’s GAD Training

With the ongoing commitment to promote consciousness related to Gender and Development (GAD) principles, the GAD Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Telecommunications Office (TelOf) in Region 8 invited the National Computer Center as a resource person in the last phase of a series of gender-related seminars.

The seminar was entitled “Developing Men and Women thru Computer Internet Literacy” and was held last December 3 – 4, 2009 at the Telecommunications Office in Tacloban City. More than 30 employees from the different district offices of TelOf participated in the said seminar.
